How many times have you heard the phrase, 'you get what you pay for!'? I bet you've heard it almost weekly. It's mostly true, however you can get quality products at discounted prices. So you don't always get what you pay for. However, when it comes to shop tools, you can't afford the cost of malfunctioning equipment and repairs. And worse, you can't afford to hurt yourself.

DeWalt D28502K 4-1/2-Inch Small-Angle Grinder Kit:
Yes, DeWalt are one of the most popular manufacturers of power tools in the world, however, many of their products are sub-par compared to some of their rivals at a similar price point. Thankfully however, the DeWalt D28502K does not fall into this category, and in my opinion is one of the best angle grinders out there on the market at the moment. Straight out of the box you will notice just how light this machine is in your hands, some of the others on the market just seem far too bulky, but the D2850K just seems....right.
This particular angle grinder boasts a particularly strong motor which means it is able to slice through anything that you throw at it as easily as butter. In fact, in tests it didn't stutter at all. If you want a slightly easier job cutting through stone then don't forget to purchase a diamond disk, it does make everything so much easier. Another fantastic feature here is that there is a pretty good dust extraction system, in the past I found that my angle grinder got clogged up rather easily, which of course reduced the life span.
The D28502K is completely different though, even though it is a messy job, it gets rid of all of that dust without any hassle. To cap it off, it is simple to use, all you need to do is press one button and turn and that disk will fall off. How is that for speedy change?
Makita 9557PBX1 4-1//2-Inch Angle Grinder with Aluminum Case:
This is a machine which is clearly built for the trade. Makita, a popular Japanese brand has made waves around the globe as of late, and for very good reason too. They make superb tools, and the 9557PBX1 is no exception to this rule. When you get it out of the box you will notice that it is a little heavier than the DeWalt, but this is a tool made for serious people (despite the cheap cost!). Despite the extra weight it still will feel great in your hands, which is always a plus.
The Makita 9557PBX1 comes equipped with a 7.5amp motor, which means it is able to cut through anything rather easily and without too much effort on your part. Of course, it is only 4-1/2 inch so don't throw too many big jobs at it. The dust extraction system isn't as extravagant as the DeWalt, but it doesn't need to be.
Everything inside the machine is sealed properly so you don't have to worry about any rogue dust managing to break its way inside. The aluminum case it comes with is a nice touch as it ensures that you have a lot of space to store your grinder, and you won't need to worry about any damage to it!
Makita 9005B 5-Inch Angle Grinder:
I must admit, I have never been a really big fan of 5-inch grinders. It is far too difficult to source the cutting and grinding disks, however, I am willing to make an exception to the Makita 9005B. This is the angle grinder made for people who find that 'mini grinders' are far too small, and yet a 9" grinder will be far too big for their needs.
This particular model comes packed with a 9 amp motor which means you get a ton of power. Unlike other 5-inch grinders on the market it is actually fairly light, and as a tradesman you should be able to use this all day without any fatigue. Like the previous Makita model, everything inside is adequately sealed to ensure that dust doesn't ruin the angle grinder early on in its life. This will stand up to a lot of abuse, and it truly is a tool for the professionals, although do expect to pay slightly more money for 5-inch discs to kit it out with.
